The holidays are a wonderful time of year. A time to connect with family and friends, and  a time to enjoy an abundance of good foods. As we enjoy Christmas gatherings this week, we wanted to share a memorable personal holiday story from Jane and Dan Trygar….

“Probably the most moving memory for me was many years ago.  Dan and I took my parents old movie reels and converted them to VHS.  We spent months editing and adding music.  (We had limited tools and the film reels were quite brittle, so we had to tape them together as they split while trying to convert them)

We thought it would be most meaningful for my mom.  Little did we know how it would affect the entire group since almost everybody else knew about it.

So…we rolled a TV into the living room on Christmas eve and my mother joked that her gift was the TV she already owned.  When we played the video it started with footage of my great-grandparents on the porch of my mother’s homestead along with my grandmother and mom when she was little.  Then to my parents wedding and my siblings and myself as children.

The excitement from my parents, Grandmother and Aunts seeing family that had long since passed was overwhelming and priceless.  There was not a dry eye in the room!!!

We had no idea it would affect everyone the way it did. We ended up making many more copies of the video for extended family as my mom told cousins about her present.

It is a Christmas I won’t ever forget and I don’t think I will ever be able to top!!!”
