When diagnosed with celiac over 14 years ago, the one thing I truly missed was raisin bread. Raisin bread reminded me of Saturday mornings at my grandparents house, generously buttered and served with warm oatmeal before bundling up and playing outside on a frosty day. When cold weather hits, I miss it! Fortunately for me (and YOU!), Three Bakers makes a gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin Bread that holds up to my memories – soft, pliable and with the perfect balance of spicy cinnamon and sweet, plump raisins.
My love of raisin bread doesn’t stop at breakfast. Its sweet taste pairs beautifully with ham, apples and cheddar or Colby Jack to create a grilled cheese sandwich that is out of this world!
Grilled Ham, Apple and Raisin Bread Sandwich
2 sliced Three Bakers Cinnamon Raisin Bread
Oil or butter for spreading
2 to 3 slices thinly sliced gluten free deli ham
4 thin slices of a cooking apple, such as Granny Smith or Harlson Thinly sliced Colby Jack or cheddar
1 1/2 tablespoons apple butter, optional
Oil or butter the outside of two slices of Three Bakers Cinnamon Raisin Bread. Layer with ham, apple slices and cheese. If desired, spread apple butter on the inside of the bread slices before cooking for added sweetness and spice.
In a small skillet over medium heat, grill sandwich on both sides until bread is toasted and cheese is melted. Enjoy!
